Belize on alert as Tropical Storm Sara moves along Honduran coast bringing heavy rain

Associated Press

SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras (AP) — Belize issued tropical storm warnings for coastal areas on Friday as Tropical Storm Sara moved through the Caribbean, dousing Honduras’ northern coast with heavy rain. Sustained rain fell in the Honduran city of San Pedro Sula, though there were no signs of serious flooding. Sara was expected to scrape along northern Honduras’ Caribbean coast, bringing torrential rains across parts of Central America and southern Mexico after making an initial landfall overnight. The weather system had moved back out into the Caribbean overnight and by Friday morning was located just south of the island of Roatan.
