El Paso reports fewest Covid hospitalizations since last June; 4 additional virus deaths

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Department of Public Health reported four coronavirus-related deaths and 53 new cases Monday.

The latest fatalities included a woman in her 60s and three women in their 80s.

El Paso County's pandemic death toll now stands at 2,594. It's important to note that the virus deaths the health department announces usually occurred months ago. The health department is still investigating 20 suspected Covid-19 deaths.

Hospitalizations now stand at 87, the fewest since last June. There are 33 Covid-19 patients in the ICU.

El Paso health department data shows that 52.6% of El Pasoans over the age of 16 are now fully vaccinated, with 68.4% having received at least one dose.

The number of active cases is now at 1,509.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 135,448 confirmed cases, with 131,254 reported recoveries.
