Police: Fatal Crash Likely Result Of Sleepy Driver

BOWIE, AZ – Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say five people from Chapparal , N.M. were killed Saturday when a van they were traveling in left the road, rolled over and caught fire on Interstate 10.

Officials tell ABC-7 that the driver of the van likely fell asleep at the wheel. Myra Romero, 15; Priscilla Soledad, 18; Rey and Susanna Romero, both 48; and Joyce Cisneros, 14, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people, including the 18-year-old driver, survived the accident near Bowie , Arizona . DPS officials said none of the van’s occupants, who are from Chaparral, N.M., were wearing seat belts.
