Evacuees In El Paso To Return Home

EL PASO, TX — More than 200 evacuees who came to El Paso to escape the destructive path of Hurricane Rita are about to make the long trip back to the Texas Gulf Coast.

Many are headed 700 miles east, to Houston. For the past few days, the evacuees havebeen staying at two city centers in El Paso.

Others, who have special medical needs, have been receiving care at local hospitals.

Houston is coming back to life after the Category3 hurricane swept through on Saturday.

Officials there are urging residents to observe a staggered arrival schedule.That’s to help prevent gridlock on the interstate highways leading to the city.
