Out-Of-State Pumping Company Helps El Paso Flood Victims
EL PASO, TX. — An Oklahoma pumping company is helping out flood-weary El Pasoans.
Horizontal Oilfield Systems and Supply, which is based in Tulsa, has a high-volume water pumping system which got a major workout after last year’s Hurricane Katrina and Rita came ashore.
The city of El Paso contacted the company to helpavert a flooding threatwiththis week’s storms.
One of the great concerns was relieving some of the pressure in an earthen dam near the Mexico border. The pumps were used to reduce water levels by as much as 20 feet.
“We are helping people rather than selling a product to someone,” said Bob Layton, the vice president of the company.
Layton said the pumps being used in El Paso are even more powerful than those used in the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast states.
