Victim In Parking Lot Shooting Dies, PD Search For Gunmen, Vehicle
EL PASO, Tx. – The victim in Thursday afternoon’s shooting in a west El Paso strip mall parking lot shooting has died.
Police tell ABC-7 that 19-year old Sterling Brown of the 400 block of Mangrum, died of his wounds sustained in Thursday afternoon’s shooting in the Burlington Coat Factory’s parking lot at 6020 North Mesa.
Officialssay theirpreliminary investigation revealed Brown was in the parking lot of Burlington Coat Factory when three black males approached him. One of the three men pulled a gun and shot Brown.
EPPD officers and Sheriff’s Deputiesset up a perimeter that included the Coronado Tower, Burlington Coat Factory, as well as a TV studio and two fast food restaurants as they searched for suspects.
Initially witnesses toldABC-7 the gunman or menmay have run into the Coronado Tower, which had been surrounded by El Paso Police Officers. Police ordered everyone in the tower not to leave their offices. After a search, the officer workers were allowed to leave.
The parking lot outside of the retail stores was ringed in red police tape, as EPPD officers and El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies combed the area with guns drawn.
Crimes Against Persons (CAP)detectivestell ABC-7 they arelooking for the three black men who were seen leaving the area in a white SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe, with Georgia plates.
