LC Police Looking For Person Who Shot And Killed Dog
EL PASO, TX. – Las Cruces Police are trying to determine who shot and killed a pit bull terrier sometime around 8 p.m. Thursday evening.
Police were called to the 3300 block of Majestic Ridge by a resident who heard gunshots and discovered the dog wounded and in a puddle of water. The dog was attempting to keep its head above water so the resident picked up the dog and moved it to higher ground. The brown and tan dog, believed to be around 1-3 years of age, eventually died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to its chest and shoulder.
Police learned that witnesses who live nearby heard a man and woman arguing or talking loudly just prior to hearing gunshots. Witnesses then saw a silver or light-colored car leave the area.
Police are asking for assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for killing the dog. Investigators also are trying to determine who owned the dog.
