Players Rejoin UTEP Football Team
EL PASO, TX – Two UTEP football players rejoined their team for Thursday’s morning practice after felony charges against them were dropped.
Tufick Shadrawy and Brian Wilkins were cleared the charges by El Paso County District Attorney Jaime Esparza Wednesday.
On July 8th, five current and one formerUTEP football player were arrested after a brawl outside a downtown nightclub. Police made multiple arrests as they tried to break up the brawl.
Shadrawy, Wilkins, and former player Emeri Spence were originally charged with a felony count for assault on a public servant. Shadrawy also had a second felony charge for attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer.
Brandon Thigpen, Isaiah Carter, and Damon Cromartie were also charged with misdemeanors and were put on strict probation by the university. UTEP policy calls for the suspension of any athlete facing a felony charge.
Universityofficials tell ABC-7the playerswill be disciplined internally but did not specify how they would be disciplined.
