EL PASO, TX. -The mayor and state officials have signed off on the “Spur 601” Project, more commonly referred to as the “Inner Loop.”
Aprivate company,JD Abrams, will design, build, and fund most of the $367 million road. The state will then pay Abrams back over time. El Paso native and Transportation Commissioner TedHoughton, says private investment moves a project more quickly than waiting for government money.
“Our people build great roads. It’s how you finance finance those roads to bring them forward faster, instead of waiting 10 to 20 years for those transportation assets.”the Texas Transportation Commissioner said.
The Inner Loop willconnectU.S. Highway 54 to Loop 375, spanning about seven miles. State officials say it should be up and running in about three years.
