House Fire In El Paso’s Lower Valley, Officials Say Preventable

EL PASO, TX. – A house goes up in flames and fire officals say the blaze could have been prevented.

It happened shortly after 10 p.m.Sunday night on the 200 block of Clarisa in El Paso’s lower valley community.El Paso Fire Department officialssay there were two people in the home when the fire broke out. They tell investigators they heard popping noises, then saw flames coming from the laundry room.

They were able to make it out safely. Their two dogs were later rescued by fire crews. Officials say this incident should serve as a reminder to residents – always keep fire safety and prevention in mind when it comes to your home.

“Unfortunately, they didn’t have a working smoke detector, and so the fire grew to the size that itdid.” Officials estimate thousands of dollars worth of damage was caused. The investigation into how the fire started continues this morning.
