Camper Suing Maker Of Brut Aftershave
MILWAUKEE, WI.(AP) – A man who suffered burns during a Wisconsin Dells camping trip is suing a Texas company that makes his aftershave — which he says ignited.
Eighty-one-year-old Charles Lewitzke of Milwaukee was camping in 2004. After cleaning up at a bathhouse, he put on some Brut aftershave and deodorant. Then he went to his campsite to start a fire.
The suit says the elderly man struck a match — and he ignited, suffering second- and third-degree burns to 30 percent of his body. The suit filed in Milwaukee seeks unspecified damages from: — Helen of Troy Limited of El Paso, which owns and markets Brut — Unilever Home & Personal Care USA of New Jersey, a division of Conopco, which had previously owned the product. — and Wal-Mart Stores East, which is where he bought the Brut products. A lawyer for the defendants declined comment.
