Local Child Development Center Closed For Safety Violations
EL PASO, TX. – Unsafe electrical outlets, clogged toilets, and no first aid kits are the conditions that shutdown a local daycare.
American Southwest Montessori Schools operates learning centers on the Eastside and in the Upper Valley.ABC-7 has confirmed the Eastside location is currently closed due to 72 inspection violations in less than a year.
“My 17 month old was going tocome here when he turns 18 months, and if they got all these violations,I don’t want my baby to be here. Or my oldest son,”said concerned parent, Ray Prichertt.The Upper Valley locationhas been placedon probation. They have six months to turn things around.
“It’s okay to have some deficiencies but when you have repetitive deficiencies, especially deficiencies that involve child safety, then it’s bigger issue,” said Paul Zimmerman, of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The upper valley school only had about 30 violations compared to more than 70 for the eastside center.
