No New Trial For Mother Convicted Of Injuring Daughter
EL PASO, TX – There will not be a new trial for the woman convicted of seriously injuring her infant daughter in 2005.
23-year-old Patricia Workman was convicted this August and sentenced to 28 years in prison on charges of injury to a child.
Her request for a new trial was denied by 168th District Court Judge Guadalupe Rivera.
She was arrested by police two years ago when officials at a local hospital noticed her daughter sustained serious injuries to her head and eyes. The infant also had a broken arm at time she was taken to the hospital. The infant received the injury two weeks before she was taken to the hospital by her mother, investigators said.
Later check-ups revealed the girl had a broken rib, and multiple bruises to her abdomen.
At the time of the incident, Workman admitted to police investigators that she shook her daughter out of frustration.
