Fort Bliss Honors Fallen Members Of 4-1 BCT

FT. BLISS, TX. – Members of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division honored five soldiers who died serving our country at a special ceremony at Fort BlissWednesday morning.

Those honored were:

Sergeant Lee C. Wilson Corporal Thomas l. Hilbert Corporal Jason J. Hernandez Specialist Matthew J. Emerson and Specialist Brandon T. Thorsen.

The ceremony took place in Soldier Hall. Pictures of the soldiers – as well as their military equipment – were on display as family and friends wept in admiration of their couragous sacrifices.

Wilson, Hilbert and Hernandez died when explosive device went off near their unit in Mosul, Iraq. Thorsen and Emerson both died of non-combat related injuries while also serving in Iraq.

At Wednesday’s ceremony, those in attendence pledged never to forget their sacrifices, “We pledge to each of you: we will never forget. Never forget Wilson, Hernandez, Hilbert, Emerson, Thorsen: five warriors have fallen.”

The ceremoney also honored all of the fallen heroes from the 4th Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division that have lost their lives in Iraq.
