Miners Mingle With The Soldiers, Invite To Football Game

EL PASO, TX. – Saturday’s upcomingUTEP football game is military night and some soldiers at Fort Bliss got a special delivery from the team.

Members of the Miner football team, along with some of their coaches and even cheerleaders had lunch with soldiers at the Stafford Dining Facility on Monday. The players handed out posters, t-shirts and discount coupons for the troops and their families.

Soldiers said they enjoyed getting to meet some of the players and were delighted they took time out of their day to visit. The players said they also had a blast and want to make sure the troops know they’re appreciated.

“Mingling with them, getting to know where they’re from and things like that, because they’re very important to us, too,” saidUTEP Defensive Back, Quentin Demps. Saturday night’s game against Houston is ‘military night.’ Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m.
