Pearce To Start Senate Campaign
WASHINGTON (AP) — Congressman Steve Pearce will make a 10-stop tour of New Mexico starting Friday to kick off his campaign for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.
Pearce will formally announce his candidacy in his hometown of Hobbs and then will head to Albuquerque.
On Saturday, Pearce will be in Farmington, Santa Fe, Clovis, Roswell, Tinnie and Alamogordo.
He wraps up his tour on Sunday with stops in Mesilla and Carlsbad.
Pearce and New Mexico’s other GOP member of Congress, Heather Wilson, are seeking their party’s nomination for the seat being vacated by fellow Republican Pete Domenici.
Both disclosed their campaign plans in October.
Domenici has held the seat since 1973. He’s retiring at the end of this year because he has an incurable brain disease.
