Former Governor Backs Clinton

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) – Former Governor Bruce King and his wife, Alice, today endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton’s bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The three-time New Mexico governor and his wife praise the experience and long public service of the New York senator and former first lady.

The 84-year-old King says he’s known Clinton since the late ’70s. He says she’s always been interested in uplifting people.

Alice King says Clinton has worked for many years to better the lives of children, seniors and disabled people.

Clinton also was endorsed by former state Democratic Party Chairman John Wertheim. She also has the endorsements of Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish and Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez.

Illinois Senator Barack Obama also has been picking up endorsements from state and local officials.
