Vote Will Decide New Design For TX Car Plates

EL PASO — Residents of the Lone Star state that are tired of the design on their car’s license plate will get to vote on whether or not they want to change it.
Starting Monday, the Texas Department of Transportation is conducting a weeklong vote on four new, fancier designs.
The winning design will be unveiled in 2009. Officials say the new plates will add a seventh digit because the state is running out of six-digit combinations.
