Gun Used In Illegal Crossing Was A Toy, Border Agents Say
EL PASO — Tense moments were put under control when Border Patrol agents in Ysleta discovered that a gun being wielded by a juvenile turned out to be a toy replica, officials said.
On Monday around 12 Noon, agents said they saw twomen attempting to make an illegal entry into the United States. The agents also noticed that one of the men was holding what appeared to be a handgun. As the agents approached the area, thesuspects retreated back into Mexico. The agents notified and coordinated with Mexican law enforcement agencies in order to apprehend them.
Mexican police responded and were able to apprehend two teens. The officers determined that the gun was in fact a replica of a .40 cal. Berretta pistol. The twoyoungsters were taken into custody by the Ciudad Juarez Municipal Police Department.
