Listening Tour Stops In El Paso

EL PASO, Texas- “How are the children?” is the title of the state wide “listening tour of 2008”, and El Paso is the first stop.

The two-day informational gathering will help the advocacy organization, “Texans care for children”, improve policies in the next legislative session.

Dozens of El Pasoans who know first hand about the issues facing our children met Tuesday morning to share ideas on how to provide a better quality of life to the more than 218,000 children who live in El Paso.

Representatives from family services of El Paso, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Girl Scouts, The Paso del Norte Health Foundation and the Y.W.C.A broke into separate groups to share ideas.

The listening tour 2008 will be gathering imput in ten other Texas cities to put together a legislative agenda that will reflect the needs of children throughout the state.
