U.S./MEXICO BORDER – Drug Enforcement Agency officials say five bus companies are accused of taking part in a drug smuggling ring.

They are: transtar, neptune tours, los primos, usa-mex and ameri-mex.

authorities say a five-year investigation led to the indictment of 18 people who have been accused of taking part in the scheme to transport cocaine and marijuana aboard buses that took passengers between the two countries.

The smugglers allegedly used special compartments to conceal the drugs from passengers and law enforcement.
