New Indictments In West Texas Polygamist Case

ELDORADO, Texas (AP) – A West Texas grand jury today indicted three more people on sexual assault charges related to a polygamist sect.

That brings to eight the number of sect members accused of abuse.

A Schleicher County grand jury indicted three men on charges of sexual assault of a child.

Details came from Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott.

The names of those charged were not immediately released.

The three members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who were indicted today are in addition to five others — including jailed sect leader Warren Jeffs.

The latest grand jury session was its third to consider evidence against residents of the Yearning For Zion Ranch, which is run by the FLDS — a breakaway Mormon sect.

Authorities in April raided the ranch looking for evidence of underage marriages and abuse of sect girls.
