Mitchell Elected 10th District Court Judge

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – Republican attorney Albert Mitchell has defeated Democratic incumbent Donald Schutte for the state district judgeship in the 10th Judicial District.

Mitchell won with 56 percent of the vote to Schutte’s 44 percent with all precincts reporting.

Mitchell has been an attorney in Tucumcari for the past 24 years.

Schutte had been appointed to the court by Governor Richardson In July 2007.

He previously was chief deputy district attorney in the 10th District.

The 10th District includes Quay, Harding and DeBaca counties.

It’s the only district court in the state with only one judge.
