Richardson Mum On Being Part Of New Administration

SANTA FE, NM (AP) – If Gov. Bill Richardson is in line to be part of an Obama administration, he’s not talking about it.

The governor flatly refused to answer any questions on the subject at a news conference on Wednesday.

He simply repeated what he’s been saying for months – that he’s happy being governor.

Richardson is a former Clinton administration official. He was energy secretary and the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

He also ran for the Democratic presidential nomination this year. After he withdrew, he endorsed Obama and campaigned hard for him across the country.

Richardson, who is the nation’s only Hispanic governor, called Obama’s election enormously significant. He said it sends a new image of America.
