EPISD To Recruit TAKS Tutors At Job Fair On Monday

EL PASO, Texas — El Paso ISD will recruit TAKS test tutors at a job fair on Monday at the Professional Development Center, 6500-K Boeing, district officials said.

The tutors will be working with students in grades 3 through 11 in subjects such as math, science, writing, reading and social studies.

EPISD officials said tutors do not need an advanced educational background or training, but they must be knowledgeable in the subject areas for which they apply.

The seasonal positions will run from January through April. Tutoring hours will be before, during and/or after school and possibly on Saturdays.

Compensation is based on college credit: tutors with 60 or more college hours, $11 an hour; tutors with a bachelor’s degree, $20 an hour; and tutors with bachelor’s degrees who have Texas Teacher Certification, $25 an hour.

Potential applicants are asked to come at the following times based on last name:

1 to 4:30 p.m. A-M

4:30 to 8 p.m. N-Z

To qualify, applicants must apply at the job fair and bring multiple copies of their resume, transcript and the name and numbers of three references.
