VA To Pay Benefits To Veterans’ Surviving Spouses

The Department of Veterans Affairs will pay $24 million to 84,000 surviving veterans’ spouses. The money comes from VA compensation or pension benefits.

This benefit is only payable to surviving spouses of veterans who were receiving VA compensation or pension benefits at the time of their death.

The payments will be made to those whose loved one died after 1996.
