Joe The Plumber Turns Reporter

SDEROT, Israel (AP) – America’s most famous plumber has traded in his wrench for a reporter’s notebook as he covers Israel’s Gaza offensive.

Samuel Wurzelbacher, who shot to fame during the presidential campaign, is now a rookie war corespondent covering Israel’s side of the conflict.

Wurzelbacher was in the southern Israeli town of Sderot today to tell readers of the conservative pjtv.com Web site about the rockets that rain down from the neighboring Gaza Strip.

Wurzelbacher says that the people of Sderot “can’t do normal things day to day” for fear of rockets, adding “I’m sure they’re taking quick showers.”

He expressed contempt for Israel’s critics, and wondered why Israel hasn’t acted sooner in responding to Hamas militants.

Wurzelbacher underwent intense media scrutiny during the campaign after asking Barack Obama about his tax plan. He says he was enlisted to cover Israel because he’s “an expert on media bias.”
