Small Plane Lands On Belly At EP Int’l Airport
EL PASO, Texas — A twin-engine Cessna landed on its belly at the El Paso International Airport about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, an airport spokeswoman confirmed. The pilot initially radioed the tower stating that he may have unsafe landing gear.
The plane landed on Runway 26. No injuries have been reported.
Fire officials said the pilot was able to evacuate the passengers safely. Some smoke was coming from the bottom of the plane, but firefighters were able to pour foam on it to prevent any fires, officials said.
One runway has been closed and two are open. The airport remains operational.
