Fort Bliss Soldier Dies After Attack With Baseball Bat

FORT BLISS, Texas — A Fort Bliss soldier who was attacked with a baseball bat in July 2008 has died, Fort Bliss spokeswoman Jean Offutt confirmed.

Pernell Robert Flowers II was the alleged victim of Deandrez Robertson, the Fort Bliss soldier charged with attempted murder who escaped from guards on post in December and was found less than a week later getting off a bus in Tennessee.

Robertson allegedly conspired with another soldier to buy a baseball bat with the intention of killing Flowers.
