Violence Wracks Juarez: 3 Officers, 1 Guard Killed In Separate Shootings
JUAREZ, Chih. – Violence continued to tear at the fabric of Juarez, as 3 police officers and one club guard were shot and killed in separate shootings Friday night and early Saturday morning.
According to our media partners at Channel 44, A Chihuahua State police officerwas shotdead after an alleged confrontation witha Mexican Army soldier. According to officials, the shooting happenedaround 3am Saturday morning, just a few blocks away from the Santa Fe International Bridge.
Witnesses tell our news partners at Channel 44 the officer and the soldier got intosome sort ofaltercation. The witnesses say the soldier shot the officer after the officer continued to walk in the direction the soldier had told him not to walk.
Friday night.a security guard was killed atthe popular nightclub Rodeo de Media Noche (Midnight Rodeo), just a few blocks south of the Paso del Norte International Bridge. Officials tell our media partners at Channel 44, thata us gunmen showed up at the club and shot the main guard.
Earlier the same evening, violence again struck the small community of Guadalupe, just across the Rio Grande from Fabens. Shortly after 9:30 Friday night, two Guadalupe police officers were shot. The men were on duty when gunmen killed them.
In mid-February, two off-duty Guadalupe police officers were also shot in the same area.
