New Director Of Chihuahua’s Dept. Of Public Safety Sworn In

The Chihuahua Department of Public Safety has a new director following the resignation of Javier Torres Cardona.

According to our news partners at XHIJ Channel 44 in Juarez, Cardona resigned late Friday night amid accusations that he allowed a man wanted by the Drug Enforcement Administration in El Paso to escape.

The high-profile inmate, Crispin Borunda, was about to be extradited to El Paso to face federal charges for drug cartel involvement.

Victor Valenzia de los Santos, who replaces Javier Torres Cardona, was sworn in as director in Chihuahua City on Saturday.
