High Winds Hit West Texas, Southern NM
EL PASO, Texas — Wind gusts reached nearly 50 miles per hour across the area Wednesday. While Thursday will be breezy with gusts only around 25 mph, stronger winds are expected Friday and Saturday.
The winds are not just inconvenient for everyone; windy days can actually hurt the way some make their living.
Workers at a Westside car wash said they see about 500 cars a day driving through for a wash, but Wednesday they only saw about 100, most in the morning before the winds.
“Not many people want to get their cars washed on a day where they’ll just get dirty again. It’s hard enough for me to get my hours right now. It’s hard for me to make as much money as I need for all the stuff I need right now,” said Randy Zacher.
