Obama Sending Advisers To US-Mexico Border

WASHINGTON (AP) – The White House says President Barack Obama is dispatching a Cabinet member and a top Homeland Security adviser to visit communities on the U.S. border with Mexico.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs says Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and the director of the White House Homeland Security Council, John Brennan, will be making a series of visits to the southwest region. Gibbs says they plan to meet with local officials as the administration seeks to enhance border security.

Gibbs also says the first visit is slated for Wednesday, ahead of Obama’s trip later in the week to Mexico.
