Child’s Death Ruled Homicide, Mother Charged With Capital Murder

EL PASO — Police investigators said the death of a 22-month-old toddler was no accident and have arrested the mother.
Detective with the Crimes Against Persons Unit (CAP)arrested Monea Boyd, 25, Tuesday and charged her with Capital Murder. She was booked into the El Paso County Dentention Facility without bond.
On December, 6, 2008, emergency crews responded to 2453 Tierra Negra. According to the arrest affidavit, Boyd called 911 and said her toddler was not breathing. Crews rushed the toddler to Sierra Providence West, where he died the following day.
According to the affidavit, thetoddler had scrapes throughout his entire body, head injuries and multiple contusions on the head, face, torso and the extremities.
The medical examiner concluded thetrauma resulting from the toddler’shead injuries were not the result of an accidental injury, according to the affidavit.
ABC-7has learned Boyd’s other sons — ages five and seven — are staying with relatives and are under the close eye of child protective services.
