Fort Bliss To Get $107 Million In Stimulus Money

EL PASO, Texas — The Department of Defense has awarded over $107 million in grants to Fort Blissfrom the economic stimulus bill passed by Congress earlier this year.

The funding will be used for repairs to unpaved tank trails at training areas, repairs to the highway connecting Fort Bliss to White Sands Missile Range and repairs and renovations at facilities throughout the base, according to Congressman Silvestre Reyes.

“Today’s announcement is a major victory for El Paso and Fort Bliss. This funding is coming at a critical time as Fort Bliss is continuing preparations for the thousands of soldiers who will soon call El Paso home. These funds will support critical projects that will further Fort Bliss’ strategic importance to America’s national security and also create much-needed jobs in the community,” Reyes said in a news release.
