Autumn Sam Says Good-Bye To ABC-7 At End Of May
Weekend sports anchor Autumn Sam will leave ABC-7 at the end of the month as she takes a position as multimedia sports journalist at WSB, the ABC affiliate in Atlanta, Georgia.
Autumn said she will enjoy being back in her hometown of Atlanta but will always appreciate the experience she gained during her three years at ABC-7.
“This is a dream come true for me to return to my hometown and work at the No. 1 station in Atlanta. I thank KVIA for giving me the opportunity to grow as a sports anchor and journalist over the past three years,” she said.
Autumn said some of her most memorable times as an El Paso sports anchor were getting to know legendary Coach Don Haskins and traveling to California to cover UTEP women’s basketball team’s first ever NCAA appearance.
She also interviewed boxer Evander Holyfield live and asked about the infamous Mike Tyson ear bite.
“He showed me the part missing from his ear!” Autumn recalls.
Sports director Raul Martinez said he will miss his co-worker.
“It’s been a pleasure to work with such a talented and fun person. Autumn truly made the sports office a great environment. I will miss her and I wish her the best of luck in Atlanta,” he said.
