Shuttle Atlantis Makes Pit Stop In San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO (AP) – The NASA Boeing 747 carrying the space shuttle Atlantis from California back to Florida stopped in San Antonio on Tuesday.
The tandem arrived at Lackland Air Force Base Tuesday morning after spending Monday night at Biggs Army Air Field in El Paso. They left San Antonio about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after refueling for its hop to Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi, then to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The shuttle landed at Edwards Air Force Base in California on May 24 after poor weather scrubbed the planned landing at Cape Canaveral, Fla.
