TXDOT Reminds People To Insure Their Vehicles

Texas Department of Transportation officials are reminding Texans to insure their vehicles this summer.

“We spend up to a billion dollars a year in trying to cover for that uninsured motorist,” said TX-DOT official Ruben Gonzales.

“They need to maintain adequate insurance.”

Speaking on Good Morning El Paso Weekend, Gonzales said one in five Texas drivers isn’t insured.

In Las Cruces, police can impound your vehicle if it isn’t insured thanks to new city ordinance.

So what do you need before you shift into drive?

Officials say the minimum liability insurance is $25,000 for each injured person and $25,000 dollars for property damage.
