Hutchison Visits Iraq
U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is planning a race against Gov. Rick Perry for the Republican nomination for Texas governor, has been visiting troops in Iraq. Hutchison spokesman Jeff Sadosky says Hutchison flew into Baghdad on Wednesday, visiting with Texas National Guard members there and speaking with U.S. Ambassador Christopher Hill and Gen. Raymond Odierno, the current commander of the forces in Iraq. She also visited members of the Texas Air National Guard in Kuwait. Her visit to Baghdad comes a day after the first step of a pullback of troops in Iraq as U.S. forces turn responsibility for security in the cities over the Iraqi military.
