Juarez Soldiers Thwart Attempted Kidnapping
Soldiers thwarted an alleged kidnapping in Juarez early Thursday morning.
The soldiers were patrolling the streets around 12:15 am when they noticed a red Ford pickup truck with four passengers and no plates.
When the four saw the soldiers, the truck sped off, and the soldiers quickly followed in pursuit. Upon stopping the truck, the troops discovered the four had been hiding another man, who had been reported kidnapped that same day, inside the vehicle.
According to authorities, the kidnappers were taking the man to a safe house and intented to hold him hostage in an attempt to extort his family.
Authorities arrested the four and charged them with kidnapping. The four had weapons that included a 38 caliber gun, a 380 caliber gun, 2 rifles, and $3,000 worth of cocaine.
The names of the four alleged kidnappers are Gamaliel Rene Berdin Brena, Gerardo Martinez Centeno, Vladimir Rodriguez Hernandez, and Israel Gilberto Limas.
