Mexican Police Find 4 Mutilated Bodies In Bags

MORELIA, Mexico (AP) – Police in western Mexico have found four hacked-up bodies in plastic bags on the side of a highway.

The prosecutors’ office in the city of Apatzingan says police received reports early Thursday morning of plastic bags leaking blood in the nearby town of Huacana.

Prosecutors say local police soon arrived to the scene and confirmed the grisly contents of the bags.

On Wednesday, investigators found a severed head and two arms inside a plastic bag in the town of Ario de Rosales.

Both incidents occurred in the mountainous western state of Michoacan.

Michoacan is a major focus of President Felipe Calderon’s crackdown on drug traffickers. More than 10,800 people have died in the effort.
