Police Seek Missing 54-Year-Old Woman
EL PASO, Texas — Police areasking for the public’s help in finding a woman who disappeared undersuspicious circumstances. Fifty-four-year-old Gloria Huerta Marmolejowas last seen on Saturday, July 25.
Marmolejo had just turned 54, according to Mark Huerta, her brother. She returned to her home in the 1800 block of Sonoma off Montwood in East El Pasoon Saturday after spending time with her son and grandchildren in Phoenix, Arizona. She planned to attend a birthday celebration with family later that night.
Marmolejo made her last phone calls at 5:40 p.m., andfamily members have not been able to contact her since then, Huerta said. She also has not used her credit or debit cards since Saturday.
On Wednesday, police located Marmolejo’s vehicle parked to the side of O’Shea Keleher Elementary School about a block from her house, Huerta said. Police took possession of the vehicle as evidence, but Huerta said there are no signs to indicate that his sister drove it there.
Marmolejo takes arthritis medication that her brother says she needs in order to function. Huerta said his sister has never gone away without contacting family and her disappearance is highly unusual for her.
“Her routine is very basic and that’s what got us wondering because we know what she does every time, every stop of the way,” said Huerta.
The police department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is now investigating the case due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
Marmolejo had worked as a private contractor for Texas Workforce Solutions in the past.She oversaw a career center about a year ago, according to Lauren Macias-Cervantes, a spokeswoman for Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande. She also worked as a realtor with Coldwell Banker Realtors in West El Paso.
Huerta said his sister didn’t have a boyfriend and has long been divorced. She has two children and nine grandchildren.
