Woman’s Body Found Near Santa Teresa Elementary
SANTA TERESA, NM — Awoman walking on a dirt bike trail early Friday morning noticed the dead body of a woman near McNutt and Country Club Road, officials said.
Dona Ana County Sheriff’s investigators have been at the scene with their Mobile Command Center all day. Shortly after noon, investigators with the El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons and Criminalistics Units began arriving at the scene.
Investigators say it is still too early in the investigation to determine if the woman’s body is that of 54-year-old Gloria Huerta Marmolejo. Marmolejo, an east El Paso resident, was reported missing by her family earlier this week.
EPPDSpokesman Chris Mearssaid the approximate age and body type of the woman found match the characteristics of Marmolejo. While theyhave not been able to confirm ifit’s her, they have notified her family.
“We’re not able to make a positive identification at this point,” said Mears. “Obviously, [the family]knows we’re out here preparing for the worst case scenario.”
Wednesday, police foundMarmolejo’s car parked in front of O’Shea Keleher Elementary School about a block away from her house. Investigators with the El Paso Police Department said there is no evidence showing Marmolejo drove the car to that location.
