Marmolejo Family Thanks Community For Support
EL PASO — The family of an East Side woman found dead in the New Mexico desert is thanking the Sun Citycommunity for its support.
“My mother’s belief in Christ has convinced us that she is indeed in heaven smiling down upon us,” said Manny Marmolejo. “She was the most loving person you could ever meet and probably looked her killer in the eye and forgave him.”
A walker found the body of 54-year-old Gloria Marmolejo near Santa Teresa Friday and Marmolejo herself was an avid walker, said family members.
In fact, her family says she always walked on the track behind O’Shea-Keleher Elementary School, the school where authorities found her car on July 29.
Wednesday, her son Manny and her brother Mark talked about Marmolejo’s commitment to her family, her church and her community. At the same time, they struggled to understand who could have done this to an aunt, mother and grandmother.
Gloria had been staying with her son Manny in Phoenix for about five months. She had just made it back toEl Paso when she went missing.
Manny said his family has still not received the body from the medical examiner’s office and has not made any funeral arrangements.
Mark tells ABC-7 he does not believe his sister’s murder was a random case and feels women in El Paso should not fear for their safety.
