Neighbors Stunned By Murders Of Elderly Couple

EL PASO, Texas — A neighborhood was still stunned a day after an elderly couple was killed.
On Saturday night, police discovered the bodies of an elderly couple in the backyard of their home in the 10100 block of Kirwood in Northeast El Paso.
Police said it was their daughter who fired the shots that killed them, a chilling accusation neighbors are still trying to understand.
“I’ve seen police show up there before, but I didn’t know why,” said Nicholaus Ramirez, a neighbor.
Neighbors said it wasn’t the first time police were called out to the Northeast home, but this time things were different.
Crime tape and flashing lights littered the street Saturday night as police officers grabbed their gear and investigated how the elderly couple were shot to death.
Investigators arrested 46-year-old Laura Grisel Carsner and charged her with capital murder in the death of her mother and stepfather, 68-year-old Irma Quiroz and her husband, 66-year-old Alejandro Quiroz. Police said Carsner was from Austin. She is now jailed with bond set at $2 million.
Several neighbors said the killings may have stemmed from a custody battle involving the couple’s grandchildren.
One woman, who did not want to be identified, said it is those children who will now suffer the most from this tragedy.
“I just know that it’s very sad because now the grandchildren have no grandparents and no parent, either.”
