2 UTEP Students To Participate In Miss USA Pageant

El Paso, Texas – After winning their respective state pageants, two UTEP students will participate in the Miss USA 2010 pageant this spring.

Rosanne Aguilar, 23, was crowned Miss New Mexico 2010 in Ruidoso, on Nov. 7, and student-athlete Kelsey Elizabeth Moore, 19, was crowned Miss Texas 2010 in September.

“Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been watching beauty pageants, and I always dreamed of winning,” Aguilar, a senior majoring in biology who aspires to become a pediatric oncologist, said in a news release on UTEP’s Web site.Aguilar is a Las Cruces resident who commutes to UTEP.

The two Miners are friendly competitors.

“Hopefully one of us wins,” Moore, a sophomore majoring in general studies, said. Moore also is a member UTEP’s volleyball team.

The Miss USA pageant will take place on April 18 in Las Vegas. The winner of the pageant will represent the U.S. At the Miss Universe 2010 competition.
