New Mexico Air Force Base To Send Aircraft To Haiti

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. (AP) – An eastern New Mexico Air Force base is sending some of its aircraft to Haiti to help with humanitarian operations.

A powerful earthquake flattened whole neighborhoods on Tuesday, and officials feared thousands may have perished.

Cannon Air Force Base says it is sending two MC-130W Combat Spear aircraft from the base’s 73rd Special Operations Squadron.

The planes were prepared for deployment Wednesday.
