45 Firefighters Battle Third Blaze At Warehouse

EL PASO, TX — Fire investigators are looking into a blaze at a South-Central warehouse that collapsed the second floor of the structure.

18 crews, or 45 firefighters, were called out to the 1900 block of Magoffin around 1 A.M. to fight the blaze. The billowing smoke could be seen for miles around.

It took crewsmore than an hour to extinguish a majority of the blaze.

“It was pretty involved upon our arrival,” EPFD Battalion Chief Rafael Reyes said.

“A lot of our strategy was to protect the adjacent buildings. So we used a lot of personnel on those two sides.”

Crews managed to contain the blaze to the one structure, which was vacant when they arrived.

Reyes told ABC-7crews have put outtwo previous fires at this same warehouse in the past.

“It was determined that those were arson fires. So there was already previous fire damage to these buildings,” added Reyes.

The investigation into this morning’s blaze is still ongoing.
