Couple With El Paso Ties Die In Kansas; Husband Kills Wife Before Sawing His Legs Off

El Paso, Texas – An El Paso couple died in a gruesome murder-suicide in Liberal, Kansas last week, according to a report in The Hutchinson News.

Liberal Police found the bodies of Jose Angel Rodriguez, 36, and Alicia Rodriguez, 39, in a bedroom of their Liberal home Wednesday night while responding to a missing persons report. The couple was last seen Jan. 9. The couple’s two children were not in the home when the murder-suicide occurred.

The coroner ruled the deaths a murder-suicide, saying Jose first suffocated his wife before cutting his own legs off with an electric saw and bleeding to death.

Thefamily moved to Liberal about a year and a half ago. Funeral services are expected to take place in El Paso, according to the newspaper story.

The Liberal community has rallied around the children, raiding nearly $2,000 for the family.

A memorial fund has also been established at Sunflower Bank in Liberal, and donations are being collected to help pay for the funeral arrangements, the Southwest Times reported. Citizens can call the bank at (620) 624-8101 for more information.
