Teens Point Toy Gun At Traffic, Arrested On Drug Charges
EL PASO — Police say two teenagers that were allegedly pointing a toy gun at traffic were arrested on drug charges.
Jesus Mata, 17, of the 3700 block of Texas Star; and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested shortly after Midnight at the Good Times Store located at 3013 Lee Trevino. Both Mataand the juvenile werecharged with possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana. The juvenile was also charged with possession of ecstasy, police officials said.
According to police investigators, Mata and the juvenile were inside a pick-up truck parked at the convenience store and were pointing a hand gun at passing cars using the laser-dot sight. All the while, they were being observed by a couple of police officers, who proceeded to approach the two teenagers.
A search of the truck allegedly turned up abaggie of marihuana in the center console area of the vehicle, police officials said. Officers alsodetermined the handgun was a toy.
Matawas booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $1,500 bond. The case against the juvenile was turned over to theJuvenile Probation Department.
